At Pampa, we’re passionate about working with artisans to preserve and support traditional craftsmanship and we love sharing the stories behind how our pieces are made. Our Ottoman Benches are the newest addition to our furniture collection and are the product of a collaborative effort between multiple skilled artisans in Argentina and Byron Bay. The way these pieces come together perfectly represents our values; each one is a labour of love to produce and upholds the craftsmanship of its makers.
To make our Pampa Ottoman Benches, we first work closely with local Byron Bay fine furniture maker Morgan of Morgan James Design, who handcrafts the timber frames for us out of beautiful, ethically-sourced Tasmanian oak. At the same time, the covers are woven into traditional and contemporary designs by our Andes and Suncho weavers in Argentina. Each one is hand-loomed with pure sheep’s wool, using the same traditional techniques they use for our rugs. When the woven covers are finished, they travel to Australian shores and are brought to local upholstery expert Paige Miller of The Dusty Road, who then fixes them to Morgan’s handcrafted frames. The result is a truly exceptional piece of furniture, a one-of-a-kind piece only made possible by the careful work of these master craftspeople.
Our Ottoman Benches are designed for coffee tables, entryways and hallways, lounge and work spaces and are the perfect expression of authentic craftsmanship.
